Sierra Unified School District 1959 Gillig/International Conventional This unidentified Gillig conventional on an International Harvester chassis was sent to me by longtime GIlligCoaches.NET contributor Tom Shafer, and added here on January 23, 2007. 1959 Gillig Conventional - right front view (UPDATE Posted November 10, 2008) This bus recently appeared on eBay. After brief communication with its sellers, I was able to obtain high-resolution shots of it, and determine that it originally hailed from Sierra Unified School District in California. Pic. #1 Pic. #2 Pic. #3 Pic. #4 Pic. #5 1950s-era Conventional with a Ford Chassis This 1950s-era Conventional, with a Barshow and Baleria body, is pictured here because Barshow and Baleria had a very striking similarity to a Gillig manufactured in the same era. Interestingly, Barshow and Baleria was located not too far from the Hayward, California headquarters of the Gillig Corp, (they were located in nearby San Jose), and they were also a notable Crown distributor. This Gillig, most likely a late '60s unit, is equipped with an International Loadstar conventional chassis. Unfortunately, no other information is known at this time.
